The founder of Venice Beach was tobacco millionaire Abbot Kinney. This occurred on July 4, 1905. He wanted to create a place where he could improve his health, challenge his mind and unwind while breathing in the fresh sea air. Kinney&#8217;s concept was implemented, although it was not well received. The truth is that well-organized seminars and lectures by professors and writers did not get a large audience, citizens were interested in something more entertaining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abbot Kinney decided to listen to the people and address their needs. He created a massive amusement park complete with a little train, a pier and a vast network of canals. Surprisingly, their total length was 16 miles. Visitors were able to ride a gondola as well as view various attractions. By 1925, his creation was in financial trouble and required help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1930, oil was discovered on the territory of Venice Beach in Los Angeles. This had an impact on the landscape of this location. When oil rigs arose, for example, the fresh ocean air swiftly changed into a cloud of toxic fumes.
